Facebook Messenger is a free mobile application that is a tool for chat and text messaging with optional alerts that inform you about incoming messages. It has similar features to BlackBerry Messenger that allows blackberry phone users to chat and text with each other. The difference is that Facebook Messenger is secured to the world of Facebook and not to one platform. The real benefits of adapting the new Facebook Messenger are that it contains texting as an option when you send a message and it selects phone number from the connections rather than contact list. The reason why Facebook Messenger is peculiar for most users is that it influences their Facebook networks. It contains the main sources of data about your friends, including their e-mail address, phone number and location. For instance, if you do not have your friends phone number, you can easily send him a message via Facebook.

There is a feature that gives alerts for incoming messages, but it can be turned off for a chosen amount of time. It is useful when you want to spend the night in tranquility and peace. This application has location services as well. There is an arrowhead icon at the right of the text entry box. When it is blue, your location is shared. Tap it once to turn it gray and your location will not be available.

Of course, you can find some minor bugs in the application but these are not so serious. For example, when you send messages via SMS, the profile picture of your friend does not turn up. Sometimes you get three sets of duplicate messages which is a lot. Thirdly Facebook Messenger does not allow you to see all your friends who are on-line. If you are spending a bunch of time talking with people from your mobile, Facebook Messenger is worth downloading.
